Who We Are:
OEER is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to fostering offshore energy and environmental research and development including examination of renewable energy resources and their interaction with the marine Picture1.jpgenvironment. The Association was incorporated in March 2006, with grants that now total $8,205,000 from the Nova Scotia Department of Energy. OEER's members are Acadia University, St. Francis Xavier University, Cape Breton University and the Nova Scotia Department of Energy. 

Our Objectives:
The objective of OEER is to build research capacity in Nova Scotia and to assess the potential impacts of: petroleum exploration, development and production and renewable energy technologies (ocean currents, wind, tides and waves) on the marine environment. 

Specific Project Aims:
1. To identify critical habitat

2. To identify the influence of marine noise on fish and invertebrates

3. To identify operational waste discharges

4. To examine oil spills and mitigation

5. Modeling of impacts of offshore energy projects

6. To support the documentation of pre-commercial technologies and study their environmental impacts

7. To support other studies and initiatives consistent with the general objectives of the association
